Ralph Thompson Memorial Scholarship

The Ralph Thompson Memorial Scholarship is an award of $2000 to a singer or accompanist showing outstanding potential for further study in Australia or overseas.
Entrants are asked to submit a varied twenty minute recital programme of art song
(no arias, operatic or oratorio), which will be adjudicated by a panel of prominent Western Australian musicians who will select the items to be performed. Accompanists may choose to use more than one singer in their programme.
The Scholarship will be contested in a public performance on November 20th 2010.
In 2008 an Encouragement Award was introduced.
Conditions of entry:
- Entrants must be financial members of Art Song Perth
- Entrants must have performed for Art Song Perth (formerly The Lieder Society of WA)
- Singers must perform all works from memory and in the original language
- Singers are to provide their own accompanist and accompanists their own singer/s
- Entrants are to provide their programme and name of associate artist
- Entrants are to submit a detailed study proposal. This should include proposed destination,
names of potential coaches and teachers and a statement of expected outcomes and future
career intentions.
